Waiting is a constant part in our daily lives. Waiting sometimes involves short time and mostly, long time. Every action includes series of waiting, would it be waiting for the bus to arrive, waiting for the metro, waiting in line, waiting for an exam result, waiting for our food to be served, waiting for our salary and so on. At times, it won’t bother us but many times, it’s all that much.
One of any woman’s concern includes the man that God has destined for her. Are you waiting for your man? According to Merriam Dictionary, waiting means to stay in a place until an expected event happens, until someone arrives, until it is your turn to do something.
In the book of Genesis, Abraham made his servant promise to get his son Isaac a wife. In reverence to that promise, the servant left along with his master’s 10 camels in pursue for Isaac’s wife. It was toward evening when he reached the town and had the camels knelt down near the well. Before he started on the task given to him, he prayed in his heart that the Lord will make him successful that day. He boldly asked God this prayer ” May it be that when I say to a young woman, “Please let down your jar that I may have a drink and she says, “Drink, and I will water your camels too” – let her be the one you have chosen for your servant Isaac. By this I will know that you have shown kindness to my master.” (Genesis 24:14) Before he finished praying, the beautiful Rebekah arrived with the jar on her shoulder to fetch water from the well. To make the story short, Rebekah gave him a drink including the camels. She fulfilled what the servant was praying and most importantly, the will of God in her life. They went to Rebekah’s parents and asked her hand for marriage.
The very beautiful Rebekah spent her days in the place where she used to do the chores that was due to her. At the right place and at the right time, the right action and responses transpire at once to fulfill what God has designed. Everything is admirably played as though the director is around, the cast memorized the script written by the writer to perfection and the actions relating to their conversations are well- portrayed. God will direct two different journeys to be one. He remarkably write a copyrighted love story for you, produce a movie especially starred by you, and create the scenes that will surprise you but then again, you just have to WAIT and do not WHINE.
The servant, Rebekah, and Isaac have characteristics that admirably changed my perception in the season of waiting.
Just like the servant of Abraham, he acknowledged the sovereignty of God before doing his first move. He boldly asked God and say specific prayers. God manifested His faithfulness and he directly met the woman that he searched for. God wanted to remind us on the importance of seeking Him first in every action that we take and allow Him to unfold His will on the things that concerns us. It is essential for us to have the same heart for God. Seeking Him first in everything that we wanted to do honors Him. At the same time, it saves us a lot of time and wasted effort, if that is not according to His will. It even saves us from the unnecessary pain of broken heart. The book of Matthew says, ” But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. (Matthew 6:33). When Rebekah told the servant who her parents were, the servant bowed down and worship the Lord for leading him on the right road. It is always right to bring back all the praises to the one who truly deserves it. ( Praise him for his acts of power, praise him for his surpassing greatness. Psalm 100:2). He is seeking God with a thankful heart. We too should be a seeker of God and guess what, He is more than glad to meet us.
Rebekah on the other hand, never hesitated and stood her ground. She is certain about what she is about to do. Giving a drink to 10 camels ain’t an easy task. These are camels and not goats or lambs, think about that. She kept her stillness while waiting for her God-given gift in the person of Isaac. Ask God to steady your heart. God will bring your man exactly to where you’re at. You don’t have to rock heaven and earth to find him, he will find you. When the time is right, God will reveal to you the man who has prayed for you too. A friend of mine shared her thoughts on waiting and it brought me into deep realizations on what God desires for the women and how we should grasp it. She told me that even then, in the story of creation, God made the woman last, after everything that the man needed were already created. Ladies, God needed to establish your man before finally bringing you in his path and be united with you. To me, that is more than a smile in my heart and I say, rejoice! (The man who finds a wife finds a treasure and he received favor from the LORD. Proverbs 18:22)
Isaac was in the field that evening to meditate when Rebekah and the servant arrived. After the servant told him everything that he had done, Isaac brought Rebekah first to the tent of his mother and finally married her. A man who seek and submit his life to God is worth a woman’s submission. A man who brings a woman to his parents first signifies his honor for parents and respect on womanhood. A man who has a personal relationship with God will definitely remain faithful in his relationship with you. Ladies, its worth your consideration. According to Max Lucado, a woman’s heart should be so hidden in God that a man has to seek Him just to find her. Women need assurance and this is more to what we need.
Without waiting, patience loses its meaning. Waiting only exist because that length of time allows us to be shaped into the woman that God wants us to be. Seek God and ask Him to reveal to you the areas in your life which has to be molded and prepared, before finally meeting your man. As much as you wanted a godly man, he also needs a godly woman. Do not just think of what you should have, think also of what you should be.
The Lord magnifies Himself on our waiting. We only realized it when the time of waiting is over. It is the very time when all the questions that we had in the season of waiting is finally and perfectly answered. No shade of ambiguity is hidden, all is being exposed, every area of your question is completely filled. God has given you a YES for the answers that you have at hand, only then that you will realize why it was previously NO. MAYBE is not found in the dictionary of the Lord, for His answers are all sure, making us all assured. The bible says “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to Him and he will make your paths straight.” (Proverbs 3:5-6)
Serve the Lord while waiting beautiful and mighty woman of God. 🙂
